Fishtailing or whipping is not normal. It is caused by mis-loaded cargo. Speed will make it worse. Slow down, get to a safe place where you can reposition your load and put more weight in the front of the trailer. A good rule of thumb is to put 60% of the cargo weight in the front of the trailer.

Mar 31, 2009 · I put that board there so the sides wouldn’t be flimsy and it really worked. I also bolted the trailer sides to the frame in the rear as well. If you look above the license plate in the area of the gate pin on the left side, you’ll see the metal trailer frame. I drilled holes through the frame and through the wood on both sides, front and back.

First, build your frame with rim joists around the perimeter of your deck. Add evenly spaced beams of wood to form your floor joists. Reinforce your joists with corner brackets, joist hangers, and hurricane ties. When the frame is complete, lay down your boards and drill two nails per joist along each plank.
